چکیده

Aim: The aim of this in vitro study is to describe a preclinical investigation using laser-activated bleaching agent for discolored teeth. Materials and methods: Sixty sound human central and lateral incisors were selected for this study and were randomly assigned into four groups as follows: Group 1 (n=15): only Whiteness HP 10 min; Group 2 (n=15): diode laser, wavelength 980 nm power 0.8 W–30 sec+Whiteness HP; Group 3 (n=15): diode laser, wavelength 980 nm power 1 W–30 sec+Whiteness HP; Group 4 (n=15): KTP laser wavelength 532 nm power 1 W–30 sec+Whiteness HP. In the bleaching experiment, 38% hydrogen peroxide was used. The results of the irradiations were characterized using the CIEL*a*b system. Results: A mean total color difference value greater than 5.0 was obtained in each group. Lasers systems together with Whiteness HP bleaching gel showed the best results using only Whiteness HP gel (p<0.05). Conclusion: Application of laser systems with Whiteness HP provides simple, short, and powerful bleaching in dental offices. *Corresponding author: Ozgul Baygin, Karadeniz Technical University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Trabzon, Turkey, Tel: 00904623774780; Fax: 00904623253017; E-mail: [email protected] Received July 23, 2012; Accepted August 11, 2012; Published August 13, 2012 Citation: Baygin O, Korkmaz FM, Arslan I (2012) Comparison of Activated Bleaching Effects of Various Laser Systems: An In vitro Study. A Comparative Evaluation of Chemically Activated, Light-activated and Laser-activated Tooth Bleaching Systems

Background: Tooth bleaching systems can be classified as chemically activated, light-activated and laser-activated depending on activation mechanism. There is no unanimity of opinion with respect to the whitening efficacy and effect on enamel surface texture of these three types of systems. So, the present study was carried out to comparatively evaluate their whitening efficacy and effect on en...
